Sewing Training Improves Women’s Skills

Besides supporting formal education activities, EEES also develops the skills of women in the vicinity of its operations by holding sewing training programs in Lamata Village and Polewalie Village, Gilireng District.
This program aims to provide sewing knowledge and skills to mothers and young women in villages around the operational area. The activity was carried out in collaboration with the village and local sub-district administrations by presenting instructors from the Wajo Regency Vocational Training Center (BLK). The training lasts about 20 days.

The material provided includes: making decorations on clothes, doing pressing, finishing clothes with hand sewing and cutting materials. Including the ability to sew with a machine, make clothing patterns with construction techniques and measure the customer’s body according to the design. Other training is related to occupational health and safety as well as materials on productivity and soft skills.
In 2021 EEES has conducted two training sessions with 40 participants. Currently, several training graduates have been utilized by the local Village-Owned Enterprises (Bumdes) to partner with EEES in supplying garment needs at the company, such as sheets for employee basecamps.
