Clean Water Facilities Program

AS a form of concern for the community around its operational area in Gilireng District, Wajo Regency, Energy Equity Epic (Sengkang) Pty. Ltd is always proactive and contributes to providing health solutions to the community. Especially regarding the provision of clean water.
Residents of Poleonro Village and Abbatireng Village as the closest areas where EEES operates have, for a long time, experienced problems with the availability of clean water. Communities in these two villages experience difficulties in obtaining clean water, so their hopes are pinned on rainwater that is collected. When the dry season comes they have to buy water from other villages at quite high prices.
EEES as one of the Cooperation Contract Contractors (KKKS) operating under the supervision of SKK Migas through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program tries to help the community by providing adequate clean water facilities.

The long journey to bring water to Polenro and Abbatireng villages began with a geological survey to find an adequate water source. Efforts have been made since 2012-2013 to find water sources by deploying experts to conduct surveys in several places but to no avail. The search for water sources continued where an adequate source of water was finally found in the vicinity of Mamminasae Village, approximately 4 Km from Abbatireng Village.
The effort to raise the water was followed by drilling activities to make 2 deep wells. From this deep well, water is pumped into a clarification tank before being pumped into a reservoir that was built in Abbatireng Village, which is approximately 4 kilometers away. To ensure that water pressure can reach Poleonro Village, another booster pump is added near the reservoir. While distributing to residents’ homes, EEES planted distribution pipes along the roads that were passed by the residents of the two villages.
The quality of water is of great concern to the company, so before it is distributed to the Dividing Reservoir, water from the purification tank is first filtered using carbon tube filter technology. So that the water supplied to residents’ homes is of very good quality and clear.
The challenge for this program is quite big. The company has to wait a long time to receive electricity from PLN to run the pumps, since the area where the well is located has not yet been electrified by PLN. Besides that, the amount of water discharge can drop drastically during the dry season, requiring EEES to add one more well to ensure sufficient water supply. Another effort being made is the construction of a purification tank so that the water that the community enjoys is of good quality.
To ensure the continuity of this very vital facility, the sub-district government and EEES coordinated with the three related villages to form managers. So it is hoped that this facility can be well maintained and carry out its operations on an ongoing basis. This is proven where until now the number of households that have enjoyed this clean water facility has reached 103 houses and will continue to grow.
The operation of this clean water facility is very beneficial for the community. Residents who so far depended heavily on rainwater and had to buy water at high prices, can now enjoy clean and healthy water at very affordable prices and directly to their homes.
It doesn’t stop there, EEES also continues to help solve clean water problems around its operational areas. The Macanang Village, one of the villages in remote areas of Wajo Regency, which is one of the locations for gas well water, has also received attention. Residents who have difficulty getting clean water only enjoy water from tributaries which are very prone to being polluted by carrion and animal waste and other things.
Seeing this condition, EEES immediately conducted a groundwater search project in the Macanang area. This exploration project managed to find adequate sources. This deep groundwater well is then channeled through a pipe system to residents’ homes in Macanang, so that currently residents in Macanang Village have access to proper clean water within 24 hours.
Besides that, EEES is also actively helping to provide clean water in other places by supporting existing Drinking Water Supply Facilities (SPAM) in the form of submersible pumps, pipes and other materials around the operating area.
