SKK Migas Socializes Land Acquisition for Salobulo#2 and East Walanga#1 Gas Wells in Wajo Regency

Wajo, February 5, 2024 – The socialization for the acquisition of land for public interest for the clearance of the Salobulo#2 gas well drilling site in Salobulo Village, Sajoanging District, and the East Walanga#1 well in Makmur Village, Penrang District, was held by Energy Equity Epic (Sengkang) Pty. Ltd (EEES) on January 4, 2024. The event took place at two locations, namely the house of the Head of Ladoppe Hamlet in Makmur Village and the Makmur Village Office.

The activity was attended by various related parties, including the SKK Migas Representative for Kalimantan Sulawesi, Assistants 1 and 2 of the Wajo Regency Secretariat, the Subdistrict Heads of Sajoanging and Penrang, the Village Heads of Salobulo and Makmur, and landowners, comprising 12 individuals from Salobulo and 7 from Makmur Village.

The primary goal of this socialization was the formal communication by SKK Migas regarding the drilling plans for the two gas wells and to request approval from the landowners for the land clearance. The gas well drilling will later be conducted by Energy Equity Epic (Sengkang) Pty. Ltd as the Contractor of the Cooperation Contract (KKKS) managing the Sengkang oil and gas block.

Land owners took part in land acquisition socialization at the Makmur Village Office

SKK Migas explained that the land clearance for the construction of gas infrastructure falls under activities for public interest according to Law No. 2 of 2012. This drilling project is part of the government’s efforts through the KKKS to increase the country’s oil and gas reserves through exploratory well drilling.

At the event, landowners signed a minutes of agreement showing that all landowners agreed to release their land for drilling purposes. However, their willingness to release the land is still pending the price determination by an independent appraiser who will assess the land value.

After the socialization session, SKK Migas and the landowners visited the drilling location for a field survey. This was done to ensure the readiness of the location and to adjust the drilling plans to the actual field conditions.

The government and related parties hope that this drilling project can proceed smoothly and contribute positively to the increase of national oil and gas reserves. With the support of all involved parties, it is expected that this activity can proceed as planned and provide maximum benefits for the local community and the country as a whole. (bf)
