Successful Vendor Day: Collaboration to Improve the Dynamics of the Oil and Gas Industry in Wajo Regency

Sengkang (12/12/2023) – To enhance collaboration between the local service and goods providers and the oil and gas operations in the Sengkang Block, EEES is once again hosting a Vendor Day event. This event aims to improve local vendors’ understanding of the procurement system in the Upstream Oil and Gas Industry. The event, held at the Sallo Hotel-Sengkang, was attended by 23 local vendor companies, related business players, and representatives from the Wajo Regional Government. Participants joined to deepen their understanding of goods and services procurement in the oil and gas industry.

The initiative, led by the Supply Chain Management (SCM) Department of Energy Equity Epic (Sengkang) Pty. Ltd., also known as EEES, two days the events spanned two full days and included a series of informative and interactive sessions.

The first day featured presentations on the significant contributions of Energy Equity Epic (Sengkang) Pty. Ltd. (EEES) to the oil and gas industry, along with the implementation of the latest technology in the procurement process. The discussions focused on procurement systems in the oil and gas sector, centralization of integrated databases through the Centralized Integrated Vendor Database (CIVD) system, aspects of Safety, Occupational Health, and Environmental Protection (K3LL) / SHE, and the implementation of the Electronic Contractor Health, Safety & Environment Management System (e-CHSEMS).

The second day featured a Coaching Clinic session, serving as a platform for direct consultation between participants. Comprehensive discussions on the preparation of SHE qualification requirement documents, as well as administrative, legal, and financial, tax report documentation, and work experience documents integrated into the CIVD system, highlighted the event. Direct and interactive dialogues were a key part of the day.

The Committee Chairman, Hary Subagio, stated that the event aimed to collaborate with local entrepreneurs in EEES operations. “This event is more than just a meeting for discussion. It’s a real opportunity to build strong cooperations, encourage active participations, and provide chances for local vendors to engage in procuring and managing projects in the upstream oil and gas industry. Moreover, it opens opportunities for local vendors to compete across Indonesia,” he clearly stated.

In his address, EEES General Manager, Farid Gaffar, represented by Field Operations Manager Hadayullah Hamid, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders involved in the development of the upstream oil and gas industry in Wajo Regency. “We view this event as a first step in strengthening networks within the industry. Collaboration with local governments and active participation of the attendees form a crucial foundation in our efforts to make this sector more sustainable and competitive.”

The Deputy Regent of Wajo, H. Amran SE, serving as the Keynote Speaker, conveyed his government’s support for collaboration in the industry’s development. “We fully support this initiative, which reflects the regional government’s commitment to advancing the oil and gas industry in our area. The cooperation and innovation showcased at this event will be a catalyst for the future progress of this sector,” he emphasized.

This activity is hoped to be the first step in rekindling enthusiasm for establishing more robust cooperation between EEES, local vendors, and local governments. It is anticipated that this collaboration will continue to bring breakthroughs and enhancements to the crucial oil and gas industry in this region. (bf)
