The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) launched the One Two Trees program to cover up 10,000 trees in the Pantai Indah Kapuk Mangrove Park, Jakarta, Saturday, July 29, 2023.

Head of SKK Migas, Dwi Soetjipto explained that SKK Migas has a strong commitment to reducing carbon emissions in a sustainable manner. The establishment of the One Two Trees program is a real action with Cooperation Contract Contractors (KKKS) l to reduce carbon emissions in order to maintain environmental sustainability.

Through this program, which will be implemented until October 2023, all upstream oil and gas companies are required to plant trees as a form of accountability for oil and gas exploration and production activities in Indonesia.

“The One Two Trees Program is part of the upstream oil and gas industry to be able to plant 2 million trees in 2023,” said Dwi. Today is an extraordinary moment because the upstream oil and gas industry has a real commitment in efforts to restore the environment while capturing carbon emissions through protecting trees. .

Dwi continued that the Government of Indonesia had activated carbon emissions by 29 percent in 2030 and carbon emissions would be net zero by 2060.

By implementing the One Two Trees program, Dwi is optimistic that SKK Migas together with PSC Contractors and all other relevant stakeholders can realize the government’s big mission of reducing carbon emissions.

With the number of workers in the upstream oil and gas industry reaching 42 thousand people, it is expected to be able to plant more than 84 thousand trees. He targets the cultivation of 2 million trees or an increase compared to the realization of integrating trees in 2022 of 1.7 million trees, while in 2021 there will be 1.2 million trees.
