Bali, June 29, 2024 – In support of the activities of SKK Migas and Energy Equity Epic (Sengkang) Pty. Ltd (EEES), a meeting was held on June 29, 2024, at the Four Points Hotel, Legian, Bali. Various stakeholders signed a proposal for Converting sustainable agricultural land (LP2B) in Wajo Regency.
The meeting was attended by various relevant parties, including the Acting Regent of Wajo, the Director of Land Protection and Provision of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, the Head of the Formality Division of SKK Migas, as well as several other officials from Wajo Regency and the team from Puangrimaggalatung University who compiled the strategic document for the LP2B land conversion and the replacement land Survey Investigation Design (SID).

EEES presented plans for the drilling project of Exploration Wells EWL-1 and SBO-2 in Wajo Regency in August 2024. The project requires approximately 3.2 hectares of land within the LP2B area. EEES has been preparing for the land conversion since August 30, 2023, including submitting work plans to the Wajo Regency Government and drafting a strategic study. As compensation, 4.5 hectares of land in Makmur Village and Salobulo Village have been prepared.
SKK Migas emphasized that the purpose of exploratory well drilling is to anticipate the level of gas production. Drilling of Wells EWL-1 and SBO-2 is planned for August and September 2024, with site preparation taking 2-3 months.
The Wajo Government added that this upstream oil and gas activity will provide benefits and also focus on the oil and gas needs in South, Southeast, and West Sulawesi, which can be met with natural gas resources in Wajo Regency.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture explained about Law No. 41 of 2009 and Government Regulation No. 1 of 2011, which stipulate that any land conversion application must meet technical requirements and provide replacement land in accordance with applicable regulations.
Participants in this meeting expressed full support for upstream oil and gas activities in Wajo. They approved the LP2B conversion and SID of the replacement land. The finalized documents will be submitted by SKK Migas to the Ministry of Agriculture no later than the first week of July 2024 for further processing.
Through this activity, it is hoped that all relevant parties can support social energy needs and provide positive impacts for the people of Wajo Regency.
