THROUGH its social responsibility program Energy Equity Epic (Sengkang) Pty Ltd (EEES) has become the pioneer of the first biogas program in Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi.
This biogas is now one of the programs of the Wajo District Agriculture and Livestock Service in collaboration with the country of the rising sun, Japan.
This program emerged from a visit by the Domestic Biogas Team (BIRU) who visited the Energy Equity office in 2012 to socialize the domestic biogas program using cow dung. The cow dung will be processed through a biogas reactor which is built using simple technology but is capable of providing a usage guarantee of up to a dozen years. Collaboration on the use of biogas is welcomed by EEES for becoming an environmentally friendly alternative energy program for the communities around its operational areas.

Energy Equity through its Social Responsibility program chose to become a catalyst for the biogas program by initiating the application of this appropriate technology in society. This commitment is realized by building a biogas pilot project at SMP 4 Gilireng in Lamata, where Energy Equity provides materials and labor costs. Meanwhile, BIRU deployed experts to guide the work team directly headed by Darmawangsa who at that time also served as the Principal of SMP 4 Gilireng.
The technology transfer went smoothly and until now the team formed has evolved into one of BIRU’s partner business entities which is trusted to build hundreds of standard biogas reactors. They have built around 139 biogas installations in Wajo District.

Energy Equity Epic (Sengkang) EEES’s work in carrying out community development programs received an award from an international NGO from the Netherlands, HIVOS. The award was given to EEES for the pioneering of the KKKS operator of the Sengkang Block in the Domestic Biogas program.
The HIVOS award certificate was handed over directly by the HIVOS Representative for South Sulawesi on Monday, April 14 2018 witnessed by representatives of the South Sulawesi ESDM Service, Assistant II for Development Economics and Secretary of Bappeda Wajo Regency. The presentation of the award was part of the Domestic Biogas Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorda Biru) in the Bappeda Wajo Regency meeting room.
The award was given as a form of appreciation for EEES’s pioneering work in developing Domestic Biogas in Wajo Regency where EEES was the first to welcome the Domestic Biogas program in Wajo Regency which ultimately inspired many parties to use Biogas. (*)
