In an effort to enhance competency in workplace safety, Energy Equity Epic (Sengkang) Pty, Ltd. (EEES) conducted an internal training on the topic of H2S Safety Awareness Level II at Swiss-Belhotel Makassar, held on January 30 and February 2, 2024. The topic discussed pertained to addressing the dangers of toxic gas H2S or hydrogen sulfide.
The event commenced with a warm welcome from Field Operations Manager, Hadayullah Hamid, highlighting the urgency of understanding and handling the dangers that may arise from H2S exposure. A total of 50 participants from EEES took part in this training, including field management, production teams, maintenance, field workers, as well as security and supply chain management teams.
This training was facilitated by PT Pandu Safety, which has a reputation for providing safety training across various industrial sectors. The materials covered included an introduction to H2S, associated hazards, handling techniques, and the use of emergency equipment in H2S-related situations.
The presence of this training marks an important step in maintaining the safety of workers and the environment in industries that often face high risks. With enhanced understanding and better preparedness in dealing with H2S, it is hoped that participants from EEES can contribute to reducing accident rates and creating a safer and healthier work environment.
Collaboration between various stakeholders, both from the company and training providers, is key to the success of raising awareness of H2S hazards. It is expected that through efforts like this, the oil and gas industry can become a safer working environment for all involved parties.
